“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor” Romans 12:10, ESV.

God’s love is much like the sun. You can feel it’s warmth and you can see it’s light. In marriage, you know it’s real love when it’s seen and felt. God’s Word tells us in 1 John 3:18, “My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” If you tell your spouse you love him, but they cannot see it or feel it, it’s not love.

The sun shines on us because God commanded it to. Centuries later and the sun is still being obedient to God’s single command He gave at the beginning of creation. It shines on the just and on the unjust, on the good and on the evil. God wants us to love our spouse the same way.

God always pour out His love and grace on us when we least deserve it. There’s nothing we can do to deserve His love. He lavishes it on us as His children. We can see it and we can feel it. Show that same love God has shown you to your spouse. Be obedient to God’s command and let your love be seen and felt. This doesn’t mean you stay in an abusive home environment trying to love someone. Love means you will do as God’s commanded. Leave the rest to Him. Remember, it’s the goodness of God that leads us to repentance .
