“A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken” Ecclesiastes 4:12, New Living Translation (NLT).

It is a three-fold cord that is not easily broken. It is God’s desire to make your marriage stronger than ever, but He must be the first cord and an integral part. Without Him, you won’t have an anchor to keep you close during the rough seasons. For the believer, this is not optional. It is our responsibility to let God be the first cord so that our marriages will be godly examples and shine bright in a dark world.

God becomes the first cord when you let Him take His rightful place in your heart and in your home. When His Truth settles every issue, when His love is the bond that keeps you together, and when you worship Him together with your lives, your marriage will not be easily broken. Your marriage will be powerfully blessed.

Challenge: Get three cords and hold them in your hands. Together, ask the Lord to be the first cord. Then husband, acknowledge that you are second and wife, acknowledge that you are third. Tie the cords together and tie a knot at the end.
